Evernote Announces Trunk: Integrated Services that Bring Extensions to Usability

Evernote just wrapped up a special press event in San Francisco where they announced the latest addition to their Evernote service: Trunk. As the name implies (while alluding to Evernote’s elephant imagery), the Trunk will store a collection of integrated extensions that bring enhanced usability to the already excellent Evernote service. While a lot of what was showed off pertained to the desktop use of Evernote, integrations will also be available for mobile platforms including Android.

Some of the services announced today included voice transcription, PDF annotation, and even business card scanning a la Google Goggles. To add a more social vibe to Evernote’s current operations, Seesmic debuted a feature that would allow users to take social stream items and add them as “social memories” in Evernote.

Evernote Trunk hosts over 100 items at launch (most being free), but added functionality and expansion should come as the service grows. It won’t be available for Android immediately, but should be coming in the near future.

  1. Forget about “trunk”… Evernote need to start looking (with some degree of URGENCY) at their Android offering. My executive summary – it sucks! Compared to the iPhone version, and more importantly, compared to other note tools on Android.
