Droid X Stripped of System Files, Then Stripped of Hardware Components on Video

11

I feel sorry for all of these Android devices that get exposed so soon after their unveiling. They have feelings too, y’know? I certainly don’t appreciate seeing them devoided of their dignity by having their guts ripped out and the very heart of their functionality (Android) ripped from their souls.

Still, I can’t help but to look when it happens.  Before fansite DroidX.net got their hands on the device and cracked it open for the world to see, some users at AndroidCentral’s forums grabbed a system dump of the phone’s software and along with it came some goodies.

  • Android Central member mothy can hook you up with all the new static wallpapers HERE
  • The all new drrrroooooiiiidddd sounds can be found HERE
  • The Eclair Tips Widget (tested only on the HTC Evo) can be found HERE
  • You can find the multitouch keyboard HERE at droid-life
  • Kellen reported in that they now have the boot animation ported over to the Droid Incredible, check it out HERE at droid-life
  • And last, but not least, you can get the whole system dump and play until your heart’s content right HERE

Pretty hot stuff, indeed. Now we’re just waiting for the phone to transform into a Decepticon to punish us for underestimating its power and violating its nether regions.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Thanks! Love it!

  2. Where is the Droid 2???

  3. So what is that hump for? Why would they make it so awkward? Case selection may be more limited.

  4. What a mook! He doesn’t know the terminology of a Torx bit and then doesn’t even have all of the necessary tools on-hand. If you’re going to shoot a video, it’s ok to redo it when you have your stuff together dude.

  5. Kellen is Kellex on Droid-Life…

  6. Wow, it looks like he is about to break the phone, and isn’t his website DroidX.NET not DroidX.com… Well at least we got to see the inside… Looks like that hump is for the thickness of the camera.

  7. So why was the humo necessary? Was it the LEDs?

  8. I wish he would’ve taken the metal shield off the IC’s so we can see which OMAP processor is on it.

  9. According to a CNN report, it’s the OMAP 3630. See http://news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-20008725-64.html

  10. So is the Droid X made out of plastic? I really like the fact that my Droid is metal and built like a tank.
