Samsung Galaxy S Sees Its First Carrier, Headed To Vodafone

11

You Vodafone users are so lucky! You’ll be happy to know you’re the first to get your taste of Samsung’s latest crowd-pleaser, the Samsung Galaxy S. Spotted on Vodafone’s coming soon page, you won’t be able to pre-order the gem just yet, but you can go ahead and register for updates to be sent to you as they’re available.

The Galaxy S is one hell of a phone, sporting a 5-megapixel camera, a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 480×800, Android 2.1 (with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 interface over the top), and a 1ghz ARM Cortex A8 processor paired with the hummingbird chipset for unheard of GPU performance.

You may want to take a stroll over to Vodafone’s site now and submit your email address, because I imagine that – even with the Nexus One available – this will be a hard phone to pass up.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Is ARM better than Qualcomm?

Also, Samsungs custom Android is ghastly.

  2. I seem to like the ui. A bit concerned with Samsung’s support. Read a few irate customers complaining about no firmware/software updates. The way they are pushing this phone hope the can back it up with better software updates.

  3. Happy beta-testing!!!

They pushed the original Galaxy GT-I7500 almost the same way. Dropping support almost immediately, leaving customers with at most half working devices.

No Samsung phone again until they changed tehir mind on customer service in a notable way.

  4. This phone could actually be pretty good, with the big screen and awesome processing power, which apparently is quite a lot better than the snapdragons out there now. Would wait for it to be rooted though cos it just looks like an iphone ripoff with that sammy UI. God i wish one of these awesome phones would have a bloody keyboard.

  5. Switch to Verizon and wait for the Droid 2. It just got its WiFi certification and since the Droid is still the best Android device IMHO I would expect nothing else to hold a candle to its predecessor.

  6. *CORRECTION* successor. My bad.

  7. This phone craps all over the competition WRT speed… its not just the CPU processor, which is 1ghz, but the Graphics processor, which makes this (apparently) 3x faster than any other phone. Also its screen is 80% less reflective, so excellent for viewing outdoors.

Way past iphone killer. I wonder if the iphone HD has a comparable GPU.

  8. come on ORANGE UK!!!!!

  9. Nice phone, and my contract is almost up but I won’t be rushing into picking up any Samsung phone on launch due to the poor customer service I have received when using previous Samsung devices that always seem to be rushed out just a bit before they are completely stable.

  10. Vodafone UK Really Like There Android x)

  11. Like “fredphoesh” said. This phone will be 3 times faster at rendering graphics than any other phone said to be released this year. I never thought I would be saying this but the new Touchwiz UI actually looks pretty damn good. I am not saying this will be the best phone out there because that is based on personal opinion but for the time being this will be the most powerful phone out there.
