First Shot of the Samsung Acclaim

6

US Cellular announced they would be adding another device to their Android lineup, the Samsung R880– you may know it by its common name, the Samsung Acclaim. Aside from being a full QWERTY device running Android 2.1 with a 3.2-inch HGVA screen, little was known about the device, let alone what it would look like. The phone, which should be seeing its release in July, gets its first public appearance courtesy of Engadget and an anonymous tipster.

While it isn’t 100 percent verified, there is little doubt that we are looking at the Acclaim. What do you think? The keyboard definitely looks a little cramped, but we’ll just have to wait and see how this one performs.

  1. There seems to be quite a lot of 3.2 screens coming out,no love lost.

  2. Meh.

  3. After owning the Instinct, I’ll never own another Samsung cell phone, especially one with a keyboard so cramped it gives me a headache looking at it.

  4. I don’t understand what the fad is with these grid keyboards. I love my Droid, but every time I type I wish I had on a staggered keyboard.

  5. Samsung once again clones someone else’s design – image that

  6. I’ve held and played with the acclaim. yes samsung has lacked in the sizes of their QWERTY (just look at the gloss) but to be honest the keyboard on this one isnt too bad, more like the touch pro2. The android OS runs great on it. It doesn’t look exactly like the picture on the home screen, but close enough.
