US Cellular Confirms They’ll Be Getting the HTC Desire

11

Last week, we saw a mail-in rebate form that showed you’ll be able to get a $70 rebate on an HTC Desire with US Cellular. The eligibility dates on the document showed that we should be seeing the Desire announced sometime soon for the regional carrier, and it was. Not many details in regards to final pricing and definite availability, but we can at least expect this thing to come out this summer.

The worst kept secret in online history! HTC Desire with Android from U.S. Cellular, coming this summer after our rigorous testing is complete. Now have fun guessing which other Android phone we’ll launch.

Also from the Facebook status update, we can confirm that they have another Android phone in the works. It’ll be exciting to see what it turns out to be.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. just curious, does anyone know how difficult it’ll be to activate this thing on verizon since they both use CDMA 800/1900?

  2. I see the Softbank logo in the picture does that mean Japan is getting it as well?

  3. +1 on activating it on verizon

  4. Verizon is getting a very similar HTC available for pre-order with the phone coming out Apl 29th. Read some really great reviews of both phones today.

  5. Softbank is getting the Desire. Also in remote places US Cellular is pretty good.

  6. The Desire comes out in Japan on the 27th of this month.

  7. will this phone have as many apps comparable to the Iphone?

  8. I love how they think their so great because they are getting an Android phone, almost every other carrier has had Android for over a year now. US Cellular is such a joke.

  9. US Cellular is no joke, has one of the best coverages of all the cell companies in Wisconsin & Illinois – I’ve tried them all, blows AT&T & Sprint and at times is actually better than Verizon – who cares if they take their time in getting the Droid and let the other carriers work out the bugs. By the way James in your comment, “I love how they think their so great” – it’s they’re, not their.

  10. as much as i hate ams/us cell, you are right, us cell does have the best coverage for our area. att, sprint and even verison are very choppy once you get outside of major cities. i have tried all the carriers but att, and not had much luck hunting, camping and traveling around wi with other carriers. my son has the new iphone, it is great in madison, but struggles for coverage by our house 20miles sw of madison. i would like to see the big carriers get more coverage here, but need the bars of uscell for bussiness until then.

  11. LOL @ Havoc on James the joke…… You’re right about the coverage….Being a U.S. Cellular employee I can tell you that the reason they take time to release new phones is because they test their phones 2 weeks longer than any company and want to make sure the phones are not junk…. If you go to ATT they have a lot a phones… With a lot of problems and they retire them very soon!!!
