  • 3.2-megapixel camera
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • DivX support

  1. By gawd man! What’s up with all of these “new” phones having 1.5 or 1.6 installed. 2.1 is where it’s at!

  2. did they celebrate the release with cake?

  3. How do we put “boasts” and “1.5” in the same sentence? Some apps (Google Maps latest update; Google Buzz) no longer support 1.5.

  4. never ever a samsung mobilephone again! the “1st” galaxy was horrable!!

  5. I have a friend who has one and had a decent look a play. Nice solid phone, though is bit lame only running 1.5 but does have a couple of nice extras that Samsung seems to have added. Has a samsung touch type keypad which is OK.

Not in same league as Nexus/Milestone for speed etc, also seems to have a propensity to be very senstive to rotation. Speed of apps opening and use seems similar to that of most of the first generation phones.

Has about 200MB of memory for apps so you are bound to be OK unless some really large apps come out.

He reckons that they will be updated in next couple of months, which suggest the 2.1 update?

Overall its a good looking phone that works well, and it is cheap.

  6. dude!!! a Samsung android phone that actually runs android and not touchwiz??

  7. >Android 1.5

    WTFROFLLMFAO

This went on sale last month and is “boasting” 1.5? Get the f outta heeya!

  8. samsung moment runs stock droid not touchwiz, whats your point

  9. My first reaction is definitely: “Not another one.”

Can we take an Android 1.x device with a touchscreen smaller than 3.5 inches seriously anymore? There’s so many of them being released in 2010, too!

  10. Geez, Samsung, get with the program. Android 1.5 is like getting a computer running DOS in 2010, and that’s not an exaggeration.

  11. Being a Nokia owner for 14 years, never been tempted by any other handsets even the iphone.

UNTIL, the wife got a Samsung Galaxy on upgrade with T-Mobile UK.

It’s a great phone, which I’m sure the v2.x update due soon will make into a cracking phone. The camera is very very good.

  12. That’s exactly the same as the Galaxy Spica specs and looks bar the TMo logo. I’ve had one in my pocket for the last 3 months here in Ireland and it’s been out in Russia previous to that.

  13. I agree that Samsung Galaxy is a good phone; the 5MP camera is really great. But still running Android 1.5 and the battery is poor, I recharge it every day, sometimes twice a day )))

  14. The android 1.5 thing sucks but don’t lose hope! Samsung announced an update to 2.1 will come to anyone with this phone somewhere between end Q1 and beginning of Q2. I have this phone and i can’t wait! Great phone btw.

  15. I re-signed a T Mob contract a couple of days ago and got a i5700 Galaxy Spica ( seems strange that in Uk they call it the Galaxy Portal where its the Spica everywhere else ) I cant comment about anyone elses phone but mine came with A ver 2.1 and its a massive improvement over the 1.5 equipped one I saw in the store
