That is very disappointing. I'd been out of the Android scene since I'd bought my Sprint HTC Hero in October. I'd decided to take a look at Phandroid again today. I saw an update for the Hero and my eyes bulged. I couldn't believe it. Now that I've seen the specs, my face is making that ;_; face. Like, 'why HTC'? This is hardly an update. I hope, oh I hope (no praying for me) that the Supersonic is coming to Sprint. This just does not cut it, HTC.

Thanks for the report :)

I was looking forward to the Legend until I saw the specs. It's just about better looking than a standard white Hero, and the optical mouse sounds good (though I hardly use the trackball anyway).

It's 2010, should be looking at a QSD processor at 1GHz at the least. Even though it's the best looking out of the HTC Android 2010 lineup I've seen so far, it's awful spec.

Looking to upgrade my Hero, but I guess I'll have to wait around a bit longer.

Shame really. After having tried a Vanilla Android 2.1 install on my Hero, I realised how much I rely on Sense and so would look to buying another HTC Android phone.

The other thing putting me off is the slow release of updates - we were promised 2.0 in December, now it's become mid-March for 2.1. They're saying 2.1 will be the last update for Hero.

Saturating the market with similar handsets is already going to make matters worse, considering they've failed pretty badly with providing regular and prompt updates for a so-called flagship phone.

1. John,

Why would one buy a phone at all if one has bought the Hero 6 months ago?!

Its the best looking new HTC phone with it's simple non fuss clean lines and form factor but they restrict it by put a slow processor on board.

Makes no sense unless HTC was trying to emulate Sony Ericssons failing business model of flooding the market with phones that are almost/sort of/maybe better than the competition at launch.

With the iPhone 4 on the way it makes no sense allowing them to wow the world with the usual minor updates and minor hardware improvements they are predictably going to sell as revolutionary. Yet again!

I jumped when it said dual band HSPA but then i realized it didn't say quad or tri...But if you want something better get the Dell Mini 5 even though it runs 1.6 the guys at XDA developers can make us a 2.1 rom so its not all that bad. Or dell can just run its custom software over top 2.1 so its not going to be all that bad.

all android devices require wifi, bluetooth, gps, and a compass... so listing any of the above is pointless

Why do you even bother to list "WiFi" in the specs anymore? That's like saying "COLOR" TV.

600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor? Seriously? I dunno maybe this is one of those processors thats actually faster than the rated speed but this makes me yawn.

Maybe I went through a wormhole and this is really 2009.

Why buy this phone if you already own a Hero? This would hardly be an upgrade at all. I'll definitely continue waiting for something better.
