Well this one slipped out rather silently – we knew the Samsung Behold 2 would launch on T-Mobile on November 18th and guess what? Today is November 18th and the phone is now available for purchase!

behold2-sale

Clockwork, baby!

The T-Mobile price of $229.99 on a 2-year contract seems to be the best offer available at the moment. I check out some other retailers:

But for $500 (LetsTalk) you can grab the phone for $500 with no strings attached. We’ll keep you posted on any great deals on this phone in case that $200 barrier is holding you back. My question is how come T-Mobile isn’t doing more today to announce the launch of their brand new Android Phone? Do you find that fishy? Are they being patient and waiting until after Black Friday? Are they saving their marketing mojo for an upcoming, unnamed Android? Or are they just so confident in the holiday stuff they’ve got that the products will sell themselves?

Head on over the Samsung Behold 2 Forum over at AndroidForums.com to talk with other Behold owners and potential Behold owners about the newest and hottest T-Mobile device!

I will probably go over to the T-mobile store and check it out. :)

Still can’t believe that they’re charging $230 for this piece of crap. Has anyone at T-Mo seen the Droid? Do they think that their inferior network is going to entice anyone to spend more money for inferior hardware? I just don’t get it.

Gizmodo gave this a real skewering review. Too bad, the hardware seemed nice. The custom OS they did not care for.

I think the 229.00 is for new customers because i just ordered one for my wife and it was 199

It’s a good phone; it does the job. UI is a just a smidge laggy but not something that would keep you from buying this phone. This is not a top notch phone but I don’t think it deserves the bad reviews it’s getting and to tell you the truth they aren’t all bad but I guess we focus on what it lacks instead of what it does have. Camera took some good pics and the cube wasn’t all that bad.(takes some getting used to) If you like the style of the phone I don’t see any reason why not to get it except for the price tag. They definetly need to lower that if it’s going to stand a chance. Honestly I think that’s what going to keep potential buyers at bay…

The price tag is exactly why everyone is giving the phone bad reviews. The only thing this phone that other Android phones don’t have is the 320mb of ram, which is an odd thing to include.

If it were $100 it would have definitely been received better.

i think they’re saving the ad money for another android phone. like i said in another article, a salesgirl from tmoble told me they were getting a new htc phone. she didn’t know anything about it, and i haven’t heard anything in the rumor mill, so i assume it’s something new.

I’ve been with tmo for going on 6+ years. I really like their customer service, but their handset line-up is crippling them. I walked into Sprint yesterday, played w the hero and moment, really liked the moment. They offered me the 69.99 Everything Data(450 anytime min, unltd calls to mobile phones, unltd txt and data) at 25% off. My pre-tax/fees price is 52.95! That beats tmo’s Everything Plus plan by 7 bucks, AND I get a phone subsidy.See-ya, Tmo!

AW82: Is there any specific promo to mention to get them to offer that 25% off? I’d go out and get a Moment today for $52/m…

Just played with it at the tmobile store. …Wasn’t impressed to be honest. The UI is laggier than I’d like a phone of mine to be. The phone itself did feel good in my hands though, I enjoyed it, it felt like a comfortable weight an secure. But over all, UI ect. Nothing really impressed me. Would be nice to see tmo get a nice phone that really gets me excited soon. If not, I’m taking my money elsewhere.

@AW82: How did you get 25% off at Sprint?

  12. 12. Usman wrote on November 18, 2009

@AW82: I’d like to know the answer to Kevin’s question as well. Also, were they willing to waive the activation fee?

ITmobile is trash and I’ve been with them for 7 years!!! Me and my girl want to get a family plan with new phones.were thinking the $139 unl everything plan would be great!! Until further investigation of this and other family plans.say for instance I want the behold2 for both of us on the new unl fam plan with minutes, data and text. Everyone knows this phone retails for $499 or so. I was told I would have to pay FULL PRICE and get no contract. I’m like WTF! Who the hell pays full price for a phones anymore? I damn sure not going to pay full price a sub par phone like the behold 2 with that wack ass touchwiz ui.Tmobile then tries to convince me that $22 a month was a benefit. I’m like naw mf that’s an extra $22 a month on my bill.the rep was like durong the course of the year you could save about $960 for the 2 lines. I’m like why don’t you apply the $960 to that damn FULL PRICE you trying to charge! I get a run around. Tmobile is full of it. The behold 2 is aight but where’s the BEAST of phone us real g1′ers have been waiting for.How the hell is verzin selling a DROID for $199 but tmobile wants to charge $229 and full price for a subpar ass samsung? What was tmobile thinking or were they? We want our DAVID(BEASTof a phone) to AT&T’s Goliath(iphone)!! I’m saying right now if the Tmobile doesn’t get the Xperia X10. Or better or damn near same specs I’m done!! I like my g1 but damn tmobile. Its as if tmobile doesn’t want money!

@ A man, “320mb ram” surely you jest…is that accurate?

  18. 18. davis wrote on November 18, 2009

i havent been able to find the specs anywhere, now the phone comes out and the TMO site doesnt even give ram or processor specs, which are the most important specs of all. ive never hated anything or anyone as much as i hate TMO

Really hope TMobile jumps on the Google VoIP Device.. Cause all they are releasing is crap… The phone you want… Maybe if i was functionally slow…

They suppose to upgrade all their 3G areas to 7.2Mbs.. But all their devices are not worth it… Read the reviews on this phone… It’s a waste….

  21. 21. jason wrote on November 18, 2009

    @kevin and usman

25% off is a pretty standard corp discount for a lot of major corps that sprint has deals with…

  22. 22. Beanz0nToast wrote on November 18, 2009

@coolMANDINGO–Again, you’re an idiot. They have 2 types of plans. One’s cheaper because you don’t get discounted upgrades. Mainly it’s for people who don’t buy phones all the time! If you’re gonna do your “investigation” then do it! As far as the phone goes, the 229 is for new customers. 199.99 is for current customers eligible for a full upgrade. Current customers get a better deal. Why the phone may not be all that impressive (wish was the Galaxy instead) it’s not near as bad as everybody is making it out to be. Still waiting for a real predecessor with root access to replace my G1.

  23. 23. tray562 wrote on November 19, 2009

I have a upgrade coming next month and i been thinking about replacing my G1 with the this phone or the my touch which one i should get. My mom has the my touch and I like it and I seen a review form phonedog on the behold and its laggie bug I don’t have anyproblems with it (they can always patch it)

both cliq and behold ii is only $199 hoped i helped

The Behold II is $99 w/2 yr contract at Amazon now. This phone is definitely being subjected to overly harsh criticism by the self-impressed geeks who get paid to do reviews. I suspect a lot of this stems from the fact that the other providers are much bigger behemoths than T-Mobile and have more money to throw around. If the Behold II were not exclusive to T-Mobile, I bet it would be getting better reviews. Bottom line is none of the new Android phones are flawless and they all have something different to offer. Just depends on what you personally use your phone for. T-Mobile has a much better network than AT&T, Sprint or Verizon (I’ve tried them all.) So if you need your cell phone to be useful and reliable for making calls in addition to being an impressive piece of new technology, than this phone would be a smart choice for you.
