Pandora Radio Launches On Android Market!
| by Rob Jackson on September 9th, 2009 |
Awesome Android applications have arrived on back-to-back days – yesterday was Facebook and today Pandora Radio! It is only available on American Androids but music loving Android owners in that region HAVE to be happy.

Here is the description from Android Market:
Pandora Radio is your own FREE personalized radio now available to stream music on your phone. Start with the name of one of your favorite artists, songs or classical composers and Pandora will create a “station” that plays their music and more music like it. Already a Pandora User? Just log in to enjoy your stations.
The app has gotten RAVE reviews in the Android Market so far and lets face it – the application was highly anticipated because people love Pandora. But the smooth, clean interface really help this app hit a homerun.
And the widget (seen left) is a nice touch that will let you control you music and access your stations directly from the home screen. Pretty sweet!
You’ve been waiting a long time so we won’t keep you any more – head on over to Android Market and download Pandora Radio!

If you’re not familiar with Pandora you may want to check out their FAQ.

what’s the deal? It’s not in the market any more!
3. Miguel wrote on September 9, 2009
I can”t find it in the Market. I searched for “Pandora” and it only finds an app called “MusicSleep (Music Timer)”. I know the Market search feature is pathetic, but should this be this difficult?

It’s up now, try again Miguel.

Hero not supported! :(
.
As soon as you launch Pandora, Hero users will see “Sorry, your device is currently not supported. Model: hero”
.
Bummer

@Josh
Are you located in the U.S.? If you’re overseas from here that’s probably your problem.

I had the same problem for a while, but it’s fine now…I was worried that it would only work over 3G, but it sounds fine over EDGE. Finally! I’ve been waiting for this one since the launch of the phone!

So far this is the best app ever for me! I been cranking out the tunes all morning…probably need to watch that 10GB limit. Oh, I guess the iffy battery life on the myTouch will help me not go over my limited unlimited internet package.

@sizzler
.
Yes I am in the US on T-mobile USA using edge as my connection. It’s the device id Pandora doesn’t like.
15. Jeff wrote on September 9, 2009
@josh I am not the person to ask how but i am sure there is someway to change that if you root the phone
maybe when the US hero drops it will change on its own

Perfectly good hero doesn’t need to be rooted. Until it is confirmed to work I would asume doing it wouldn’t help either. Rooting does not solve all issues but thx for the suggestion. Works on my G1 perfect though.

Found it. Searching for “Pandora” in the Market apparently isn’t close enough. So I searched for “Pandora Radio” and it came up. Maybe Google can license Google for a better search function in the Market. :()

hi josh, i think htc hero last week released an upgrade firmware so not only can hero sync with outlook but also download “3rd party” apps… go to htc official site and go into “support” page…
20. Josh wrote on September 9, 2009
Hero works now on Pandora! :). I talked Pandora tech support and they resolved the issue today with out patching the software. This was a global change so now all Hero devices in the US should get it. It was Pandoras servers preventing the Hero device ID from using the service.
.
All fixed now.

Cant find it at all via 2d barcode, pandora site or anything else.
22. Jjd wrote on September 10, 2009
I cannot download it using the Market — it continuously says “download unsuccessful” — I’ve been trying for 24 hours.
If I go to pandora.com, I get a nice welcome page saying “download pandora now” but clicking on the button yields “There are no matches in the Android Market for the search pname:com.pandora.android”
