Nokia plans to launch an ARM-based netbook that relies on the Google-pioneered Android mobile operating system in 2010, writes Lazard Capital Markets analyst Daniel Amir in a research note issued this morning. In the same note, he predicts that the total number of netbooks sold worldwide will reach 25 million in 2009 vs. 10 million in 2008, with the majority of them being Intel-based machines running Windows.

I’m thinking small MID — maybe a 4.5″ – 5″ display, filling the front surface of the handset (so it doesn’t have to be much lager than an iPhone, which “wastes” all that surface area on two sides of the display). And think “web centric”. And designed primarily for landscape use — wide screen. (Saw a demo by move-mobile.com a while back that was eye opening as to what’s possible in pocket-size web-access devices.)

Y not its possible cauz Symbian which is open source n so is Android n feel nokia will bring this out

I can see this it working IF it was a size between netbook and PPC. Something larger than a phone but still pocket size, large pockets lol

Actually Nokia has a long relationship with Linux. Maemo has been around since 2005.
Also of more import and relevance are these two stories:

Symbian may be great as a “plain” phone OS but it will not be a good solution for the convergence of phone+PC where Android, Moblin, Maemo are so well situated.
I have not yet heard a mention of Nokia+Android and since Nokia is now involved with two other linux derivatives the rumors seem a bit unreliable but even if it is not android based, it will be an awesome device.

Nokia and Android !!! i find that hard to believe, i really doubt it’s going to happen
