I am stayin with the t mobile G1 for many reasons. The magic, my touch, and hero are all part of the android platform. Although, I believe this platform to be the most advanced and eventually take over the market. The various phones are just reproductions of G1. Until htc invents a more technically advanced model, I will continue with my G1. Bells and whistles are simply not enough.

I'm also part of the physical keyboard fan club, but I love the look of the Hero's UI. I hope the two can come together to form one awesome phone.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot that it also has the 3.5mm headphone jack which is actually a pretty big deal. But nothin a good pair of Bluetooth Headphones won't fix. I love my Motorola S805s and got em for a damn good price too.

Well the hardware is pretty much the same as the G1. That means the Sense UI should be able to be retroactively ported or released. The only differences are the processor (technical upgrades really, not even clock speed upgrades) RAM, battery and camera and less reliance on the "Google Experience". Sense will just add UI elements to the phones, it is definitely still android though in the fact that it is still easy and cheap to develop for and customize. Hero includes the coding for multitouch but then again Dream and the Magic have the capable hardware with multitouch coding commented out. This means that, so far, it is essentially the same as HTC's existing Android Phones, just with more RAM, a different processor, a better camera, better battery, and NATIVE multitouch support. Because I am such a fan of the hard keyboard, my favorite is still the G1. And by the looks of things, along with HTCs track record of retroactively releasing UI elements to previous phones, I'm willing to bet that the Magic and Dream will get Sense sooner or later. Hell, those geniuses over at the XDA forums will probably give us sense whether HTC wants us to have it or not. I know JF, Haykuro, Cyanogen, TheDude and many others have already beefed up my G1 beyond anything I expected from it.

Looks cool, why do people go so ga-ga over multitouch anyway, specifically the pinch zoom for web browsing, I for one enjoy being able to zoom web pages and drink coffee at the same time.

@D Pretty sure its not true multi-touch, just a gesture for the pinch zooming. Android doesn't support multi-touch just yet.

When are we going to see fewer clones and gimmicks and better specs on processing power, OpenGL ES acceleration, multitouch support and all the other things we ACTUALLY need to move toward better hardware and more widespread popularity?

I myself hate touch screen keyboards, but this phone is way to good to pass by just because it has a touch screen keyboard. Flash, multitouch, etc.. It's great!

I think its pretty ugly to be honest.

Also HTC have invaded the software too much, its not really an andoird phone(despite running android), its now just a HTC phone.

I would give this phone a miss and go for the samsung galaxy (which has AMOLED screen).

It's basically the same specs as the Magic, I'm not sure if there's a reason to upgrade.

I was hoping for better screen, better something.

I have a theory that the reason this is coming out so late her in the good ol USA is that it'll be out on Sprint. But I really hope it comes out for T-Mobile.
