I like the idea of using Android inside and outside of your car. Imagine a scenario where you are out hiking, get lost, and have your G1 route you back to your car; it’s location being provided by the car’s Android device.

Wow, this is exciting news! I can imagine a lot of cool apps for the car like trackmaster or trapster and the best thing is that I won’t have to mount my G1 on the dash! When can I buy this?!?

Side note: I was just talking about this the other day.

My GPS is run by WinCE, which as we know, totally sucks. But it’s dominant in the embedded marketplace. So, I think it would stand to reason that–at least for consumer oriented products, some of these manufacturers might look at android as an option.

Speaking of Android in cars:

Does anybody have a good recommendation of a G1 compatible FM transmitter? I’m not so much worried about speaker phone as I am being able to play audio in the car.

I was on a call with a few guys at Embedded Alley and they could confirm automotive companies involved with bringing Android to cars. At first I thought Tesla, but this could have been the company too. They would not outright say who it was… privacy and all.
