At the end of April we showed you the Motorola Ironman, a vertical slider that seemed prepped to launch in the 3rd Quarter of 2009. On what carrier? We had no clue. But now we do as EngadgetMobile has leaked internal AT&T slides that reveal information about the Motorola IronMan, although called Motorola Heron throughout:

Like the other Android Phone headed to AT&T – the HTC Morrison – the Motorola Heron has a 2.8″ touch screen swhich is smaller than at of either the HTC Dream or HTC Magic. A big red “subject to change due to move to Android” indicates that this phone probably hade WinMo or a proprietary OS and has since got the bump to Android.

The data/pics comes from another Engadget leak and we couldn’t be happier they hooked us up with all this juicy Android info:

Some of the specs worth highlighting:

  • 2.8″ QVGA TFT Touchscreen
  • Quad-band GSM
  • 3MP Camera (fixed focus) with LED Flash
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • MicroUSB 2.0

The info sheet says we can expect a November 2nd 2009 launch date but I definitely WOULDN’T expect anything. Deciding to slap an entirely different Mobile OS on a device isn’t as simple as it sounds so consider the launch date on this a toss up.

Isn’t that WM on the photos?

So glad that Moto is coming out with a couple Android phones. The coming flood of Linux based phones is actually coming to fruition. The Palm-pre, Nokia N900 and all these Android phones. Decision, decisions, decisions? The only thing that I found odd about the Iron Man specs is “Internet Explorer 6″. WTF ?!? That can’t be right.

Windows Mobile is pictured because originally this was supposed to be a WM phone. Notice the big red “Subject To Change” indicating a switch to Android?

I’m guessing that IE6 will change too.

Its looks quite ugly for my taste knowing motorola the ui is gonna suck balls lol and by the pic the display is super shittie I’m disapointed in it but hey android all the way :D

This explains android’s roadmap on focusing on different types of display especially the smaller ones. This one has a smaller screen size than the G1, same thing for the recently announced HTC Lancaster

Seriously, make that thing wider, 4 inch Touch screen and i`d have my perfect form factor. Crap why can`t they do this???

The only reason I would get this phone is because the other (HTC Lancaster) seems to lack 3G. I can’t tell from the sheet that this has 3G either, but I would get it if it does.

“the other Android Phone headed to AT&T – the HTC Morrison”

Where did this rumor come from? Citation please… I’m drooling. Don’t tease me. This is the only rumor that includes at&t (who I’m locked with for another year and a half), android, and auto-focus camera. I won’t get another phone until I get all three, unless my contract expires first :-)
