I have to agree with Jeff on this, if the GPS navigation is going to be they're claim to fame for these devices, they should stop the heartache (for themselves and us) and use Android. I never really understood why they would want to release they're own smartphone anyways, it would be a lot easier to create beautiful apps for the current handsets and charge a premium for them.

In their defense, they don't want to end up like Helio; that is: launching a phone with some cool gadgets to compete with what is on the market today, investing all their money in it, only to be eclipsed by the next huge thing (hello iPhone) in the next few years and find out the OMG technology they put out really doesn't hit the mark with what users actually expect to be able to do on their phones. And now Virgin Mobile owns Helio, so yeah. I say let em get it right, no sense in them wasting their own time or their customers, if anyone still cares when they get finally their product to market.

Iphone, Windows Mobile, Nokia, and Android have App stores. Third party apps are now where it's at. Don't even think about developing your own OS (Garmin) without an app store now. Garmin, you going to do that, too? Make it easy - go Android.
