If you should choose to add the data package, you give them the phone's IMEI number and they add it to the network for data. Usually though, the ones purchased from the store require the phone to be added to the network to even let you into the menu to make calls. NOT their yearly performance bonus. The performance bonuses have been as high as 20 to 30k, but the holiday bonuses (which everybody gets) are typically about $1,000.
