So when will the G1 be available without a contract? How much will it be? Even an educated guess? Now that the source code has been released does that mean you could install Android yourself on, say, an HTC Touch HD?

I went to 2 Tmo stores today and they only had dummies. Is there any Tmo around Baltimore that you know of has a live G1 that I can put my hands on to? I still have till end of december on my ATT contract but I want to see g1 before that.

-----Now, the rest of the world can rejoice

Maybe you should realize that the rest of the world is bigger then the non-t-mobile customers of America.
I don`t think it will be availabe for a few months in europe..

Congratulations to the world!!

Also, thanks so much to you Mr. Phandroid for taking the time and keeping all of us lesser phandroids up-to-date with all the latest and greatest in Android news. I expect to hear even more about your new G1, general user experience, and even more about new devices on the horizon. The great thing about Android is that it is so much more than just a single device (the G1) and that even lowly Sprint customers like me will soon (How soon? Do you know anything?) taste the glory of free, open-source, community-supported mobile applications.

Thanks again for everything, I hope to hear more in the future.
